Event Details

Partnered with The Madison Sesquicentennial Committee, the library will host a film every Sunday in February to highlight the important role African Americans have played in the history of Alabama and the United States.

“In Their Own Words: The Tuskegee Airmen” – a film that tells the heroic story of America’s first black fighter group, trained in Tuskegee Alabama. They were fighting a two-front war – the war against Hitler, and the war for their rights at home. This documentary follows their story from the group’s inception as an experimental fighter group to the awarding of the Congressional Gold Medal in 2007.
